Ashton Kutcher Thinks the Academy is “Cool”

February 3, 2009 | Contributor: Guest

As Shawn noted in his email blast to the YACer troops this morning, no you are not being “Punk’d” right now!  A little networking has turned into a Tweet from our new favorite public service advocate, Ashton Kutcher.  Ashton and his wife Demi Moore have had a high profile in promoting public service with Service Nation, one of the Academy’s biggest supporters.  Last night, he posted a Tweet to his Twitter feed asking followers to check out the Academy site with the note, “thought this was a cool org.”  I WILL TAKE IT!!!

Tweeters, please add him to your list and send him encouragement to really get behind the Academy!  I would love to see him rant in a video about THAT!

Good Press

I thought the Baltimore Sun article got the point across about what the Academy is and hopes to be in the U.S. It’s about volunteerism, service, and bettering our communities. Rodricks mentions the other academies that the general public is more familiar with and have come to respect. You would think there would be a similar institution for young people who are interested in serving in a civilian capacity. The overarching theme is that service will be an everlasting theme not just in this administration, but in future ones as well. It is very important to incorporate service into our American values and the Academy is a way to ensure such a value renders true for generations. Hopefully the Academy will continue to get the press and a strong following that it so rightfully deserves.
